Lee McGregor is Europe's bantamweight champion

The Scot was due to defend his European bantamweight title, against Narek Abgaryan from Armenia on Saturday's undercard of the Derek Chisora Vs Joseph Parker rematch.

The British champion cited personal reasons and injury as the reason he pulled out.

According to him, the Edinburgh Evening News reported that he'd had a difficult couple of weeks and his head was all over the place.

"I have done some damage to my hand, but I tried to train through it. It's not too serious.

"I may have been able fight, but the news that my dad was run over by a truck and then having to be admitted in intensive care fighting for his health was too much."

McGregor and Abgaryan now plan a new date. The Scot will also require time to heal from his hand injury.

He trained hard to get through the injury but was quickly notified by his father of the life-threatening condition.

McGregor said that he is now feeling better but still has several fractures from the accident.

He said, "He is going be okay and is on the mend, but it's going be a long, difficult road to recovery.

He's broken many bones, but the most important thing is that he's still alive. He is still here, and that's something I am glad for.
