Oleksandr Usyk will face AJ in a rematch later in the summer

After his fourth defeat in four fights, AJ split with Rob McCracken, his long-time mentor. Garcia met AJ while he was touring gyms in the USA after his September loss to the Ukrainian.

While Stateside, he also visited Ronnie Shields and Eddy Reynoso, but Garcia, 47, was the one he chose to work with.

Garcia insists that he has complete control over the camp, if he wants to train Joshua and help him become a three-time heavyweight champion.

He told Boxing King Media in December that if Anthony hires him as a trainer, he is the main man. If he hires him, I'm his boss and he will do what I tell.

"You will train in the manner I want, and you will follow my instructions. You don't have to be, so find someone else.

"I believe Anthony is more talented that Fury and Usyk. Both are great fighters. They are great fighters. Usyk won a big fight, he has a great style, is difficult, and Fury is the man at Heavyweight right now.

"But, I still believe that Anthony Joshua has greater skills and when it comes to skills, he's got the ability to believe in himself.

"He has to believe his skills are strong enough to defeat them both, and he has to do it.

"He should say, "Maybe I could take some punches from those guys but they won’t be able take mine,' you have to have that mentality."

Garcia said, "I have been working with so much other fighters who have the same problem, and you've to change that mentality and their thinking." It's not possible to be kind in the ring."

Joshua is expected to bring Garcia to England for the Usyk training camp, but he is open to working in America first.

His chance at redemption against Usyk was scheduled to occur in Saudi Arabia on July 23, although it is likely to be delayed until August.

Garcia insisted that Joshua would be able to discover the "killer instinct" necessary to take down Usyk back before Christmas.

He said that he thought he was the best heavyweight.

"He must change his attitude towards me. He cannot smile and get hit.

"You all know what happened to him in the last round against Usyk. He smiles and gets hit. He is smiling and getting hit.

"You have to be mad because you are being hit. He must have that mentality, that killer instinct. Although it sounds terrible, you must have that mentality in order to win the ring.
