Lemieux, a former champion IBF middleweight weight, is just 33 years old but clearly feels devastated by his father’s brutal and senseless killing.

Lemieux stated to Boxing News 24 that he has accomplished many things in his career.

"I have fulfilled my dream of becoming a world champion. I've made the fans cheer by taking on every challenge that was presented to me."

"I have dedicated my life to training and boxing. Now I want to treasure every moment with my family.

"I achieved a lot, but it wasn't all I did. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and encouraged throughout my career.

Lemieux lost his IBF title to Gennady Gorlovkin in an exciting fight at Madison Square Garden in 2015.

In 2017, he was defeated in Quebec by Brit Billy Joe Saunders.

Lemieux stated, just after the death of his father: "To find out that your father was shot and killed while waiting for a bus is quite shocking." Everyone in the family is shocked.

Lemieux lost his final fight to David Benavidez May this year.

His professional career began in 2007, and his record totals 43 wins and five defeats. Many boxers have second thoughts about retiring, Tyson Fury being one of them.
