Years of Feuding Put to Rest
Deontay Wilder has shared his thoughts on the "beautiful" collaboration with Eddie Hearn, marking a significant shift after years of bitter feuding. The boxer and his team have been at odds with Hearn over failed negotiations to fight Anthony Joshua.
New Partnership in Boxing
Despite a history of jabs, insults, and accusations, Hearn has now chosen Wilder to represent him in the 5v5 series of bouts against Frank Warren's selections. As the ex-WBC champion and captain of Hearn's team, Wilder is set to face Zhilei Zhang in Saudi Arabia on June 1.
Embracing Change in Boxing
Reflecting on the evolving landscape of boxing, Wilder expressed his satisfaction with the current collaboration, stating, "We don’t have to like each other to do business... I’m happy to be a part of Matchroom and [be] the captain."
Resolving Past Disagreements
Discussions for a Wilder-Joshua fight began in 2018 but faced obstacles due to conflicting TV and promotional agreements. After ongoing disputes, an agreement was reached last year, leading to a planned match in March that was later canceled.
Looking Ahead
With the upcoming bout against Zhang, Hearn has shown confidence in Wilder's abilities, stating, "I believe Deontay Wilder will bounce back in style... he will knock him out inside five rounds." The partnership signifies a new chapter in the boxing world for both Wilder and Hearn.
