JOSHTAYLOR has been DISMISSED of his WBA superlightweight title. The governing body announced.
However, the boxer insists that he was responsible for vacating the belt.
Taylor, 31 years old, most recently defended his titles in February against Jack Catterall, and came out on top by points in a controversial win at OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
WBA ordered Tartan Tornado to face Alberto Puello, a Dominican Republic fighter who was also undefeated, for his next match.
The governing body said Taylor's team failed to communicate with them and met a deadline in order to move forward with a bout against the top-ranked challenger.
The WBA released the following statement: "The World Boxing Association's championships committee has determined that the super-lightweight title, previously held by Josh Taylor from Scotland, is now vacant as per the organization's rules."

Taylor, who holds the WBC, IBF and WBO belts and was defeated by Catterall, suggested that he would move up to 140lbs and then make the transition to the welterweight division.
He stated that "most definitely this will be the last fight at 140lbs. It's my last fight at 140lbs.
Time to get bigger. It's time to bulk up. It's time to get some steaks in you and move up.
"I gained the weight easily. When I gained the weight, I was not lying. I have a nutritionist on my team.
"I lost weight but am now 31 years old.
"It takes a lot of effort to make 140 lbs and drain my body each time.
