REGIS PROGRAS appears to be the next American superstar refusing to fight for the UK, amid ongoing scoring controversy.
In 2019, the former WBA super-lightweight champion put on a fight for the year with Josh Taylor, but was defeated by split-decision.

Prograis disagreed with the outcome, but the excitement of the fight lives on in the mind long after the judges scorecards.
Taylor's controversial points win over Jack Catterall last Month, which sparked an investigation by both the police and internal departments, cannot be compared.
It has prevented Prograis from returning to fight Britain’s best, unless he was offered an alternative.
SunSport quoted him as saying: "I don’t believe I’d come over and fight a UK fighter in Britain.

"Unless they offer me an insane, crazy amount of cash, I will not do it again.
"Even before my fight against Taylor, people told I, 'Don’t go to UK, don’t go to UK'. Everybody told me to "Do not fight in the UK".
"I was sucked into it by my stupidity, but they didn't offer me any other options. They said I could fight in London or Manchester.

However, his American rival disagrees with him and admits Caterall's heartbreak only makes it more likely that he will make his UK appearance a one-and-done.
Prograis stated: "Caterall certainly won that fight. It was a terrible decision.
"He is from the UK and Scotland are part of the UK. But at the same moment they were in Scotland. Taylor made the decision.
"A lot people are afraid of that, and they don't want that."
Prograis, 33 years old, is still on the road after signing a deal with Dubai promotion Probellum.
He will be facing Tyrone McKenna (32), from Ireland on Saturday, but the title picture is still unclear.
Taylor, 31 years old, will skip a rematch against Catterall, 28 to make it to the glamorous welterweight division.
Prograis will be able to seize the opportunity to win his WBC and WBA undisputed titles, as well as IBF, WBO, and IBF titles.

"Those are my main goals: to be champion again, and to remain active."
