Hatton was forced to retire in 2009, after being defeated in Las Vegas by Manny Pacquiao in round 2.

Three years later, he made a comeback only to be stopped in the ninth by Vyacheslav Senko.

His scrap with Barrera won't be settled and there will be no winner.

Barrera was defeated by Amir Khan, a Brit, in 2009. He last fought in 2011, when he beat Jose Arias.

The star held three world titles in different weight divisions during his time. He also faced PacMan twice, and lost both times.

He retired with a record of winning 67 of his 75 fights. 44 of them were via knockout and one was no contest.

Sun Sport reported in February that Hatton would be putting on the gloves once again.

Hatton's most memorable fight was with Kostya Trzyu, in front of a large crowd at the MEN Arena in June 2005.

The Hitman lost only to Floyd Mayweather in 48 fights. The Australian was forced to abandon his stool by The Ring's light-welterweight title and surrender the IBF and Ring light-welterweight titles. The Hitman produced an incredible performance in the 11th round.

His return is just the latest in a long list of legends from yesteryear who have returned to the ring.

COMEBACK KINGS

The trend was started by former heavyweight champions Roy Jones Jr and Mike Tyson in November 2020, when they returned to the ring for a lucrative exhibition fight.

Evander Holyfield, an ex-Tyson opponent, made a surprise return to the ring at the age 58 but was defeated by Vitor Belfort, a former UFC light-heavyweight champion.

Hatton, a former world champion, insists that he is not returning to cash-motivated.

He stated, "I am doing it for fans who struggled to be locked up with Covid.

"I received a call asking if I would return to help the fans who were locked up for years after Covid.

"Covid was hard for me, and for everyone. I want to inspire others who have suffered from mental illness.

"They can look at me, and say "He struggled, now look at where is he?" so that they too can succeed.
