Tyson Fury was concerned that he might have suffered brain damage from the concussion and severe swelling he sustained in Deontay Wilder's fight.

TYSON FURY said that his grueling trilogy fight with Deontay Wester made him retire... because he feared brain damage.

After defeating Dillian Whyte in April, the champion heavyweight was unbeaten and hung up his gloves.

It was in his fight against Wilder in Las Vegas that he made his decision.

Fury stated that he knocked him out in round 11. But it wasn't just hunky-dory. Let's skip to the changing rooms.

"I felt the back of the head, and there were lumps that looked like fists.

"I didn’t know if my brain damage was, and I didn’t know what was wrong with me."

"I was extremely scared because I had these huge swellings on my back.

"I was thinking that I could get brain damage."

"I think that when you are knocked down like this, you don't have a lot of memories.

"I was wondering if I had been put down four times. I was actually put down twice.

"I thought to my self, 'You know? It's time for Wilder 3 to end.

Wilder had drawn Fury in 2018, but Fury won seven rounds over Wilder in their rematch in 2018.

They saved the best for last, as their Oct 2021 trilogy bout was an instant classic.

Fury was twice floored during round four, but he managed to score three knockdowns before his brutal KO in round 11.

While on a speaking tour of the UK, The Gypsy King decided that his fight at Wembley with Whyte (34-year-old) would be his last.

Fury said: "I promised Paris that this would be my last fight, and I won't put your through this anymore."

"I was shocked at the stress that they were putting on their bodies by being ringside. I actually said, "I won't fight again." I meant it.'

"I returned home and spent a few weeks cleaning the bins and running the school run.

"I told Paris, 'I'm going to do one more fight in England,'"

"I felt that I had to return to England to fight another big fight in Britain."
