McGregor, 33 years old, enjoyed many a drink of his Proper No.12 Whiskey or his Irish Sout while he was away from the cage. However, he has made a vow to stop drinking them once he returns to martial arts training.

Severe MMA was told by him: "Once the leg is clear and I feel that feeling when I kick a person, I can then gauge how long it takes.

"Then, I will isolate myself, stay far away from the pub, my Forged Irish Stout, and my delicious Proper 12 Irish whiskey, and devote myself 100% to my craft.

"I'll give it one month and see how things go, then I'll make the move [for a return].

"I don't feel pressure, I know that there are many people who support me, so I'm not in rush. I want them to be successful and that's what I'm going to do."

McGregor, a former two-division champion, has made a quicker recovery than expected from his leg injury.

The Irishman hopes to return to sparring in April, which will allow him to compete at International Fight Week in June.

"I would love [to] return at] International Fight Week. We'll see. It's up to me to keep it going day by day.

They said that I would be back sparring, twisting and turning in April. A few months ago, they told me I could box. Then all of a sudden, I couldn’t box.

"So, I'm taking it day-by-day. There's no hurry.

"I feel great mentally.

Conor McGregor wants to return in the summer, but he says he is not in any hurry to fight again.

"Physically, my body is strong and I feel energetic. I am always ready to fight so I will just keep going day by day.

"It will occur when the Lord desires it to."

McGregor will be looking to get back to the win column after his defeat to Dustin Poirier, former interim lightweight champion.
