MAX HOLLOWAY was taken to the hospital after suffering a severe cut during his fight with Alexander Volkanovski in Trilogy.

In the second round, the former champion featherweight suffered a massive laceration above his left eyes. He lost by unanimous decision.

Holloway was left bleeding from a beautiful overhand right by Volkanovski during the second round in Las Vegas.

Holloway, 30 years old, persevered through hardships but could not turn the tide against the clever and elusive champion.

After a quick check by the UFC medical team, he was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Holloway lost to Volkanovski, snapping a streak of two wins for the fan-favourite Holloway. He is now 0-3 against Australia.

Volkanovski won the fourth defense of the featherweight belt he took from the Hawaiian in December 2019.

And now The Great has his sights set on increasing his weight and adding the lightweight title to their collection.

According to the 33-year old, Max Holloway was an absolute beast.

"I just proved that I really want to be in the octagon as often as possible.

"I want to be active. I want to go up in the ranks and be a double champ. I will keep two divisions busy.

"Charles [Oliveira], whoever wins that belt, no offense, I'd love the opportunity to move up and get that double champ status."
