Aaron Chalmers, 34 years old, plans a three-year career in boxing as Geordie Shore's star hopes for big fights and domestic titles

AARON CHALMERS gave himself three years to fulfill his boxing goals of winning big fights and even titles.

Ex-Geordie Shore star, has signed for Sky Sports and promotional company Boxxer.

He left the cage with an impressive 5-2 record. His last fight was in February 2020.

Chalmers, 34 years old, said to SunSport that "not long after that, we went into lockdown. Then I had a child and my life kinda spiralled a bit."

"I was drunk and it got to August or September, and I thought, "I'm going give it one more shot in boxing."

Chalmers spoke with Josh Kelly, a close friend and 10-1-1 welterweight who suggested Chalmers try their Surrey gym run by Adam Booth.

The former Bellator welterweight was soon training under Adam Booth, a respected British coach, and that is where his boxing journey began.

Chalmers said: "The first night, Adam was like, ‘Right, Shadow box’. I shadow boxed, and I was a complete novice. I had only done MMA before.

"From Adam's level, he was like: "Right, everything needs to be rewritten."

"For six months, I was practicing the perfect jab for six months.

"There were so many times that I wondered if this was going to work. But I believed that if you keep at it, it will work.

"People believe I joined Adam's a few weeks ago, and have just signed up to Boxxer.

"That is not true. It's been 17 years since I moved away. I have had two children, and I am living apart from my family. I knew it would eventually pay off.

Chalmers lives close to his gym, and is surrounded with the likes Michael Conlan (30), Liam Williams (29), and Kelly (27)

However, he can only spend one weekend a week back home with Talia, his partner and their three children.

The debutant in boxing is eager to put his best foot forward, even though he has limited time.

He stated, "I have three years to do it right. Adam wouldn't let me go if I didn't do it right.

"I am not going to be the world champion, that is a fact. I don't have the time.

"But my main goals include fighting on big, huge shows and being on the undercards for massive events in England, Sky Sports events.

"Maybe finish off at 37 and fight for an Area title. We may never know. It was a whirlwind of a career in MMA. I look back now and think, "Jesus Christ."

"I hope my boxing career will remain the same. I believe that once we get our first fight in, everything will open up for me."

It is possible that big celebrity fights with YouTuber Jake Paul (25), and Love Islander Tommy Fury (22) could occur in this sport.

Chalmers could also walk away with a prestigious domestic title, such as the British or English titles.

He said, "You can't say never, three year is a long period, but you can still learn a lot."

"By all means Adam and I believed that in two to three years, I was ready. Then 100 percent I would not hesitate to try to get a belt.

"For someone who started boxing when he was 33 years old, I would love to retire with an English or British title.

"That is a huge, major step for me, but we'll be watching. You also have other boxing fighters we can view.

"I'm excited, it's so great that it's been made public."

Chalmers will make his pro-boxing debut at the middleweight limit in April.
