ROBERT GARCIA says Anthony Joshua lost his first fight against Oleksandr Uzyk because he did not have a winning mindset.

Joshua, 47, is a former featherweight boxer who was made Joshua's coach in preparation for the rematch against Usyk.

Joshua was shocked to lose to Usyk last yea

According to a new coach, Anthony Joshua was more concerned about beating Oleksandr Usyk 12 rounds than winning a fight.

Garcia claims Garcia was not ready for the first bout.

Last year, the Brit was shocked by the Ukrainian defeat.

The bout, which took place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 7, was won by Usyk.

Garcia argued that Joshua allowed it because he was not prepared to win.

SecondsOut was told by him: "You know? He said that he was not thinking and was ready to fight.

"From what he said to me, he just thought of doing all 12 rounds.

He never thought that he would win the fight. It's all about going 12 rounds. That makes a huge difference.

"Now, he thinks of winning and of hurting someone. This is the most important thing.

"He has to feel confident with his team."

Joshua will face Usyk again next month in Saudi Arabia.

This will be his biggest fight so far, as he seeks to redeem himself from last year's defeat.

Garcia admitted that Garcia, the former heavyweight champion, has made significant improvements in the lead-up to the big event.

He said, "Week after week, we see a lot improvement in Anthony Joshua and there are five more weeks of hard training.

"He's going get better and better so that when the fight comes, it's going be 100% ready.

He needs to be part of a team that wants to win, performs well, and is a bit more tough than his peers. That's what I bring in.

Angel Fernandez and me are pushing him to be aggressive, to become a mean man in the ring, and to hurt anyone around him.

"He's been doing this lately, and I'm very happy with how things are turning out."
