JOSH TAYLOR has blasted vile trolls who target his loved ones following his win over Jack Catterall last week.
Prestonpans pounder, who retained his four light-welterweight titles by virtue of a split decision victory, was able to retain them. However, he did get a big break at his homecoming at Glasgow Hydro Arena.
Josh Taylor controversially retained his light-welterweight title last weekend
the Tartan Torando family was maliciously targeted.
After Victor Laughlin and Ian John-Lewis, judges, turned in controversial scorecards to their respective websites, Taylor's family was targeted by internet trolls. This angered the Tartan Tornado.
On Instagram, he wrote: "I have taken some days for some well-earned time with my family after not being able to see them for a while.
"I was able to see the fight from my seat. First, I want Jack Catterall to be congratulated on a great fight.
"He rose to it and fought a brave fight. But, I think I won a close fight.
"Many Jack fans believe he deserved the decision. That's okay.
"We went in there and fought for 12 rounds... but the personal attack on me and my family is disgusting and uncalled-for."
Taylor, 31 years old, is open to Catterall's rematch. However, this will only be possible if Catterall moves up to welterweight.
He said, "My days at 140 are over." My future lies at the welterweight.
"Jack Catterall should be given another title shot as soon as possible.
"I have never dared to take on a challenge in my professional career and I would be happy to fight Jack again but at welterweight."
Jack is a great sportman and a helluva fighter. He deserves all the respect he gets.
"I would like to thank my family, my teammates, the fans who packed The OVO Hydro, as well as everyone who watched the event on Sky Sports, ESPN+ and around the globe.
"It was a dream come true to fight as the undisputed champion of Scottish soil, but it's only the beginning."
Taylor was 'p ****d of' his performance on home-oast and plans to erase that memory in his next appearance.
He stated, "I'll return and be better than ever, this is the time I'm ready to conquer welterweight."
