Is the highly anticipated fight between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua really a done deal? Wilder's head coach, Malik Scott, seems to think otherwise.
Financial agreement reportedly reached
After Anthony Joshua's recent victory over Robert Helenius, negotiations for the long-awaited grudge match between Joshua and Wilder resumed. Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, claimed that both fighters had agreed on the financial aspects of the fight. However, there is still no confirmed venue for the showdown.

Frustration from Wilder's camp
Malik Scott, Wilder's trainer and friend, expressed his frustration with the situation. He said, "It’s a real frustrating frustration, because to me, out of everybody. Deontay is the one, as far as activity, is the one that misses out... It’s a lot of promises, but it seems the promises are being broken a little bit. But we’ll see."
Wilder's warm-up fight
Wilder has not stepped into the ring since his first-round knockout of Robert Helenius in October last year. He is reportedly keen on having a warm-up fight before facing Joshua. Eddie Hearn has suggested that if the Wilder fight takes longer to finalize, Joshua will opt for a third fight this year to stay active.

Joshua's busy schedule
Eddie Hearn stated, "If he fights in December, that'll be three fights in eight months which is incredible for him. People keep saying he should have one more fight and then fight Wilder, but we don't think so. If it ends up that way, so be it and nothing would surprise me."
Multiple potential opponents
In addition to Wilder, there are other potential opponents for Joshua. Hearn mentioned Filip Hrgovic and Andy Ruiz Jr. as possible opponents for Joshua, although he believes the fight may not take place in the UK. He also suggested venues such as Madison Square Garden or somewhere in the Middle East as options for Joshua's next fight.
