After being cleared of any sexual assault, American Rolando Romero decided to reschedule his fight with Gervonta Davies on May 28.

GERVONTA DAVIS has agreed to reschedule his fight for May 28. Rolando Romero also agreed.

The American rivals were to be the headliner on Pay-Per-View Stateside in December, but Romero was retracted amid allegations of sexual assault.

After an investigation into the allegations was closed, the unbeaten boxer was released without being charged.

ESPN reports that Davis, 27, and Romero (26), have agreed to fight again after the WBA ordered it.

Initially, the grudge match between rivals was scheduled for June 4, but it has been moved to the following week.

Davis currently holds the WBA secondary'regular title', which he will defend against Romero, who was previously the 'interim" holder.

After being cleared of any sexual assault, the challenger made his first public appearance in January.

Romero wrote on Instagram: "After three-and-a half months of being slandered by false accusations, having missed out on opportunities and being denied my dreams, I was cheated out my dream and a huge amount of wealth.

"The investigation into the accusations made against me was formally closed.

"Charges were never filed because the allegations couldn't be substantiated. I have always maintained that I am innocent.

"I am now the symbol for freedom, purity, love."

Davis, 23, was forced to face Issac Cruz, 23; he narrowly defeated the Mexican replacement in a fight that was attacked by Romero.

FightHype was told by him: "Both those motherf***ers were fortunate I wasn't there that night. They could both be knocked out simultaneously.

"You know that I believe this ***.. It's something I would not say if it wasn't true. It was a great fight. Tank was the winner. Everyone here claimed Isaac Cruz won.

"But did he do any efficient stuff?" Yeah. He made Tank seem so much less than he really is. Yeah."
