After failed talks with Floyd Mayweather, Amir Khan admitted that he was 'too bold for my own good' during Canelo fight

AMIR KHAN admitted that he was too brave to fight Canelo Alvarez, after failed talks with Floyd Mayweather.

Khan agreed to jump in two divisions with Canelo's promoter Oscar De La Hoya and compete for the WBC middleweight title back in 2016.

Khan was knocked out of the fight by Canelo after chasing a super-fight against Mayweather for two years.

Reflecting on the matter, the 34-year old told iNews that Oscar called her and she couldn't refuse. Perhaps I am too bold for my own good.

"Mayweather was being a p***y, and wouldn't wrestle me so I said cool.

"It was a mismatch in the paper. It was incredible to be the one leading the fight. I earned his respect.

"Yes, I was knocked out, but he is one the greatest Mexican fighters ever." He was 187 and I weighed in at 158 pounds.

It was insane. He didn't look very big at the weigh-in, but I thought it was crazy when I saw him in the corner.

"He kept his back to me. It was enormous."

Mayweather ignored the Olympic silver medalist and instead fought Marcos Maidana (the man Khan beat in 2014).

Khan was on the undercard of Maidana's first loss against the boxing legend.

He never signed a contract with Manny Pacquiao (43), or Mayweather.

Kell Brook might feel the same about Mayweather if Khan feels evaded by Khan.

It was before Khan's defeats to Canelo (31), and Terence Crawford (34), that talks with Brook (35) broke down twice.

The arch enemies of the West are set to face off in February at Manchester Arena. This will bring an end to decades of rivalry.

Khan stated: "I don’t hate Kell. I have never hated anyone. This is sport. It is not personal.

"I believe his feelings towards me are due to jealousy. Because I was a better amateur fighter, he was overlooked.

"They trained like professionals at [Brook's Sheffield fitness center] Wincobank. However, amateurs have to be more aggressive.

"Maybe that's why he didn't make it to the international squads. It's a difficult business.
