However, Usman, who is now 34 years old, insists that his sights are set on greater things.
When asked by a fan whether he would consider facing Paul, Usman replied that if he wanted to switch to boxing, it would only be for a "real fighter".
He replied, "What? Boo this man once.
"Listen, hear, if we are going to fight, then we will fight a real fight.
"I will answer your question. If we are going to fight, then we're going fight a real fighter." A true fighter.
Last year, when talk of a possible bout between Paul and Usman was raised, the UFC Welterweight Champion ominously tweeted: “I understand that you think this is just a game which probably explains why you don’t realize that this is how people really get hurt."

Paul, 25 years old, replied: "Challenge accepted... If your boss Dana [White] allows you to box me and earn more than you have ever had, let me know so we can lace them."
"I promise it'll be your biggest pay day."
Paul's Most Valuable Promotions posted that Usman had dismissed Paul this time. "Just another UFC fighter who signed an awful deal and is now trying to make real money." In May last year, he called out JAKE.
Usman has however explained how he sees his year unfolding.
He said to TMZ, "In 2022, I'm going shock the world. July, International Fight Week, I'm gonna fight Leon Edwards.
"God willing, I will get through Leon Edwards. September is Mexican Independence Day. I will stop Canelo alvarez.
"Absolutely, I see myself winning this fight. Nothing can be done until it's done. For certain, we're talking about nine figures.
