Ian James, Mercedes' FE chief, spoke out about the ups and downs that his team has experienced in their second season.

He stated, "Today was pretty much at the peak of peak."

"Much like Nyck, it's going take a while for me to settle in. This series is designed so that you never know what might happen.

"We can see that there were mistakes made by us, but it was a season of good fortune.

"If I look at it from Mercedes-Benz's standpoint, we have 127 years of motorsport heritage. And again, to be the first world champions, that is something we will be savouring for a while."
