AMIR KHAN suggested that he might sensationally make a U-turn in his retirement plans after finally defeating Kell Brook.
Khan said that he is currently in the middle of the most difficult training camp of his entire life, as he prepares to face Brook in his long-awaited grudge match.
Training for Kell Brook fight: Amir Khan
He admitted that it would be his final fight and stated that he would be done with the sport after.
Khan said that he had pushed himself beyond his limits during camp with Brian McIntyre and believes there is still more to come.
SecondsOut was informed by him: "Let’s see what happens. You see, I want to see what this training camp does for me as a fighter.
"It's possible that I will feel so happy that I want to do another one. In any training camp, I have never been so pushed in my career.
"Training so hard, I know that I can do it. If I felt old enough to have to retire or if I was feeling beaten up, it would not have been possible.
"I have been running with guys younger than me, who are in their 20s and out-running them. They beat them.
"And my times have been better. Many of my younger friends are running the hills with me. I sparring well, I throw more punches than younger fighters.
"So, I don't know. It's not clear to me that I should call it a "day" yet.
McIntyre is currently training Khan in Colorado, the man who fought Terence Crawford (34), to a victory in 2018.
Crawford, his former opponent, is also sparring, and has won over Brook, 35. This makes Crawford the ideal advisor for the camp.
Khan won the Olympic silver at just 17 years old, before he was awarded the unified world title in professional sports.
It leaves him with little to prove going into his 40th fight.
Khan is currently absent from Faryal, his wife, and his three children, Lamaisah (7m Alayna), three, and Muhammad Zaviyar (11).
He also admitted that he will never forget the fights he won't be forced to quit.
Khan stated: "I never wanted boxing to be my retirement, but I do want to retire at the right moment." I don't know.
"I will be watching how the training camp goes. If we get a win against Kell Brook, it could open up a new chapter for me."
Let's see. "But, as I said, I don’t want to be greedy because you’re always one punch away getting hurt.
"I have a family, and I'm going wait to see what happens after the fight."
