LONG-TIME rivals Amir Khan & Kell Brook are apparently moving closer to a deal for a February fight in order to finally settle their differences.
Khan and Brook have been fighting for years. After failing to agree on terms, the bout is now a DECADE.
Khan had hoped that a fight would be announced earlier in the month. However, an agreement is not yet announced.
According to the Daily Star, Manchester is expected to host the highly anticipated clash as talks are near completion.
They are still trying to determine how the purse will split and other issues.
There are no significant obstacles to overcome.
The only thing that could prevent the fight from going ahead is the insistence of the fighters on terms, something fans have grown to accept during their simmering rivalry.
If a fight is reached, February 19th will be the date for an all English affair at welterweight.
It's likely to be available for pay-per view as British boxing fans finally get their fight, despite the fact that both men are in the final stages of their careers.
Brook and Khan are both close to retirement. They would only return to the ring if they were against each other.
This is against Eddie Hearn's wishes, who wanted Khan to face Conor Benn.
Each fighter is an independent contract agent and has been directly negotiating with the other. They have also pitched the fight to different networks and promotors.
Although the fight is five years late than many fans expected, it's a chance for both fighters to settle their differences after years of verbal back and forth.
Brook, 35, and Khan, 34 respectively, did not fight in 2021.
Bolton-born Khan hasn’t been in action for over two years since beating Billy Dibb on July 2019.
Brook lost to Terence Crawford, an American TKO, the last time Brook entered the ring. This was November 2020.
Khan stated earlier this month that nothing has been reached yet but that he hopes to reach an agreement soon.
TalkSPORT was informed by him that contracts are still being negotiated.
"Hopefully, something is finalized this week."
