Andy Ruiz Jr Offers To Replace Dillian Whyte For Anthony Joshua Fight

Joshua left without opponent after Whyte's failed drug test

World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua finds himself in a predicament after his highly-anticipated fight with Dillian Whyte was canceled due to Whyte's failed drugs test. Promoter Eddie Hearn is now scrambling to find a new opponent for Joshua on short notice, with American Gerald Washington currently the frontrunner.

Andy Ruiz Jr steps up as a potential replacement

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr, who famously upset Joshua four years ago, has made a direct offer to step in and fight Joshua. Ruiz Jr, 33, took to Instagram to express his interest in a rematch and a trilogy fight. He stopped Joshua in their first encounter but was defeated by him in their Saudi rematch six months later.

Whyte's career on the line as he fights potential doping violation

While Joshua's team searches for a new opponent, Dillian Whyte, 35, is facing another potential anti-doping violation. This marks the third time he has tested positive for banned substances. Whyte was previously banned for two years in 2012 and tested positive for metabolites of the anabolic steroid Dianabol in 2019. Despite the findings, he maintains his innocence and vows to clear his name.

Conclusion

Anthony Joshua is now without an opponent for his upcoming fight following Dillian Whyte's failed drug test. While Gerald Washington is currently the frontrunner to replace Whyte, former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has also thrown his name into the mix. Meanwhile, Whyte is fighting to save his career as he faces potential consequences for his third doping violation. It remains to be seen who Joshua will ultimately face in the ring.
