Anthony Joshua advised to relocate fight camp to California to face tougher competition following the defeat of Oleksandr Usyk

ANTONY JOSHUA’S trainer Robert Garcia wants to see the former heavyweight champion start training for fights in America.

Garcia, 47, was a first-time collaborator with AJ in the build up to Oleksandr Usyk's rematch.

Garcia believes that AJ needs to have more champion boxers around to help him succeed

Joshua was trained by the Californian who flew to the UK to help him. However, he is determined to make that change.

Garcia thinks that Joshua would benefit from an eight-week camp at his Californian gym. Garcia also believes that he needs to be pushed by other champion boxers.

Garcia said to IZQUIERDAZO, "I told Anthony, and all his teammates, that the best way for us to continue working together was if Anthony comes to my gym in California eight week before a fight.

"From six to 8 weeks, that's all you need for a great camp.

Anthony said, "I want you to be around more fighters and more champions. You need to be surrounded by more fighters, even if they come from the same gym. But you must also compete.

I told him that you have to desire to be better than them and that they will strive to be better than yours. It will work for you all.

"That's what is missing from his gym. The fighters should be competing against one another, where they don’t want the other fighter doing more than them.

"He needs to be surrounded by other world champions.

"Anthony was always alone in his camps. He didn't have any other fighters to train with.

He needs to be able to communicate with other fighters and sparring partners in a happy environment. That would be a huge help to him, I believe."

AJ wants to get his career on track after successive defeats against Usyk. Dmitriy Salita, an American promoter, has urged him to fight Jarrell Miller, a drug cheat.

Deontay Wilder is also planning his return to the ring. He took on Robert Helenius and is eager to fight anyone, even Joshua.
