Joshua's Heartfelt Tribute
British boxing star Anthony Joshua recently attended a surprise birthday party for his longtime coach, Sean Murphy, whom he credits with saving his life. Joshua first joined the Finchley Amateur Boxing Club at 18 to steer clear of trouble on the streets of London.
Bond Beyond Boxing
Since those early days, Joshua and Murphy have shared a special bond, with Murphy guiding Joshua to national championships and an Olympic gold victory. The two recently reunited at Murphy's birthday bash, organized by Finchley ABC.
Changing Coaches
Although Joshua achieved great success under head coach Rob McCracken and later with other coaches, including American Robert Garcia and British coach Ben Davison, he recently suffered defeats and changes in his coaching team.
Gratitude and Generosity
Joshua, now 35, has not forgotten his roots and often returns to Finchley for training. He has also given back to the club by funding renovations and gifting new cars to mentor Murphy, showcasing his gratitude for the role boxing played in turning his life around.

Boxing for Redemption
Reflecting on his past, Joshua shared, "Boxing really helped me get on the straight and narrow... Sean would say, 'Shut up, get on the bags, stop talking'. He told me to stay focused."
