EDDIE HEARN admitted that Anthony Joshua's mouthwatering rematch against Oleksandr Usyk has been canceled by UK TV broadcasters.
SunSport exclusive revealed that AJ had left Sky Sports to sign for DAZN in a PS100million contract, but his August fight against Usyk was not.
Anthony Joshua's huge-money deal to join DAZN didn't include broadcast rights in the UK for his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk
This means that the identity of the UK TV broadcaster responsible for the August 20 dust-up in Saudi Arabia is unknown.
Hearn stated that Saudi Arabia holds the rights to the fight, but there are still discussions about who will win the race for the broadcast rights in the UK.
Hearn said that even though Joshua has not agreed to a mega-money deal, he could still get the rights for streaming the fight.
He told iFL TV that he was currently discussing the UK broadcast situation.
"As part of this agreement, Saudi Arabia has these rights, global rights. They're currently negotiating them as we speak.
"We know that AJ has a broadcast deal. Long-term broadcast deals with DAZN are also in place.
"This fight is distinct to that because they are in the market to win this race but I'm sure that they are.
"We'll watch what happens. Over to those guys and I'm certain it will be completed very soon."
Hearn said that there is no current favorite in the race for broadcast rights in the UK. However, the fight will likely go against whoever has the largest offer.
He answered the question "I don't know who is favourite to screen the fight." However, the favorite will always be the one with the highest payout.
Part of AJ’s DAZN deal saw him become a shareholder, brand ambassador, and special advisor.
Although the company does show AJ's fights all over the globe, it is still unknown who will be able to access the UK rights for the highly anticipated rematch.
