ANTHONY JOSHUA is deep-water swimming -- Oleksandr Usyk is swimming FIVE HOURS at a stretch to prepare for their rematch.
In September, AJ, 32 years old, was defeated by the southpaw. A unanimous decision ended his reign of WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight champion.
Joshua, however, has a Saudi Arabia match rematch scheduled for August 20 -- to air on Sky Sports Box Office, after DAZN, his new broadcasters, quit yesterday's auction -- in order to keep his head above the water.
But, Derek Chisora, a stablemate and mentor to Usyk, met the Ukrainian ace recently at a London spa and learned about his incredible training regimen.
Chisora stated that he was about to leave the Russian spa that he uses when ill from training and he told him to hold off until a surprise arrived.
"I sat down, and all I heard was Deek, Deeerrrrek," just like he said during the build up to our fight.
"I began talking to him and laughing, and I told him that he looked tired.
"He said that he had just finished five hours of swimming.
"I told him that he was lying and that he couldn’t swim for five hour.
"But his trainer assured me that it was true, and then showed me a clip of him swimming in an Olympic pool for five hours.
It might seem strange to anyone outside of boxing that Del Boy, 38, can joke and laugh with a man with whom he just completed 12 brutal rounds.
Chisora, however, said that there are no real rivalries. I don't think any fighter is capable of really hating another.
"As soon the fight is over, we all just become mates.
"Even though you knocked me out I will still give you a hug."
