Tyson Fury, the British heavyweight boxer, has expressed doubt that he will ever be able to offer Anthony Joshua enough money to entice him into the ring. Despite coming close to securing a deal in the past, the two rivals have failed to reach an agreement for a blockbuster fight. Fury, currently promoting his new Netflix docu-series, disclosed that he has offered Joshua world title shots and substantial sums of money, all of which have been turned down. Fury has now accepted that the fight may never happen.

Fury blames contract obligations for previous failures

Back in August 2020, Fury and Joshua had agreed to an undisputed super-fight before Fury was ordered to engage in a contractual trilogy match against Deontay Wilder. Joshua, meanwhile, fought Oleksandr Usyk twice and suffered defeats in both bouts. Despite Fury's attempts to arrange a fight, including sending an offer to Joshua for a September bout, negotiations have consistently fallen through.

Fury insinuates Joshua is avoiding the fight

While discussing the possibility of a match with Joshua, Fury stated that he cannot get Joshua in the ring regardless of the financial compensation. Fury believes that Joshua won't fight him for any amount of money or for any titles. He alluded to a recent video of Joshua training by punching a mattress, expressing confusion about what Joshua's intentions were.

Fury and Joshua both have upcoming fights

Joshua will be returning to the ring on Saturday to face Robert Helenius after Dillian Whyte was withdrawn due to a failed drug test. On the other hand, Fury is set to compete against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. Fury had previously failed to secure a title unification fight with Usyk earlier this year, which led to Usyk now fighting Daniel Dubois.

Usyk claims Fury avoided fighting him

Oleksandr Usyk, who will be facing Daniel Dubois in the upcoming fight, had accused Fury of avoiding him and making unreasonable demands. Fury responded by saying he would easily defeat Usyk and questioned his decision to pass up the opportunity to fight Fury for significantly more money. Fury had offered Usyk 30% of the purse, which would have been worth around £13 million.
