Anthony Joshua, the British boxing mogul, recently ranked the all-time heavyweight greats in a 'GOAT' tier list but surprisingly snubbed Tyson Fury from the top spot. Joshua is gearing up to reclaim his position at the top of the division and is set to face Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Friday night.

Joshua's 'GOAT' Tier List

During a recent ranking exercise with Queensberry Promotions, Anthony Joshua placed himself and Tyson Fury below heavyweight icon Mike Tyson in the 'GOAT' tier. The tier list also included legends such as Muhammad Ali, Frank Bruno, Evander Holyfield, Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis, and Rocky Marciano.

Future Matchups and Rankings

Joshua expressed his hopes of facing the winner of Tyson Fury's bout with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed title in 2024. He also ranked current rivals Joseph Parker, Oleksandr Usyk, and Dentay Wilder in the 'Champion' tier, alongside Tyson Fury.

If Fury becomes the undisputed champion by defeating Usyk, he could potentially move up to the 'GOAT' tier. This would mark the first time a heavyweight has held all world title belts since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

Controversial Rankings and Justifications

In a surprising move, Joshua placed Derek Chisora in the 'GOAT' tier, despite Chisora not winning a world title in his career. Ngannou, Joshua's upcoming opponent, was placed in the 'World Level' tier, alongside other fighters like Daniel Dubois, David Haye, and Dillian Whyte.

Notably, Ngannou was ranked above 'Mid Level' boxers Zhilei Zhang, Joe Joyce, Filip Hrgovic, and Fabio Wardley, with Joshua justifying his rankings based on his past victories over Joyce and Zhang in their amateur careers.

It will be interesting to see how these rankings play out in the boxing world and if Fury can secure a spot in the coveted 'GOAT' tier with a victory over Usyk.
