British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has reportedly flown back to Texas to begin training for his next fight, which is scheduled for December. Joshua, who recently defeated Robert Helenius in August, was expected to face Deontay Wilder next. However, talks with Saudi Arabian backers fell through, leading to a potential postponement of the highly anticipated bout. As a result, Joshua may end up fighting on the undercard for the first time since 2015.

December Return and Potential Undercard Placement

After negotiations with Saudi Arabian backers for a fight with Deontay Wilder broke down, promoter Eddie Hearn hinted at the possibility of an interim bout for Anthony Joshua in December. Hearn's Matchroom stable is eyeing a December 23 bill in Abu Dhabi for Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn's grudge match, which could potentially feature Joshua on the undercard. It would be a significant departure from Joshua's usual main-event status.

Training in Texas

According to reports, Anthony Joshua, 34, has returned to Dallas to begin his training camp with coach Derrick James. While the exact details of his training regimen remain undisclosed, Joshua's focus will be on preparing for his upcoming fight, whether it is against Wilder or another opponent.

Alternative Options

If the fight with Wilder does not materialize, Joshua could turn his attention to IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic. Hrgovic, 31, is in line for an "interim" belt that would guarantee him a shot at the champion or potentially inherit the full title if the victor of the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk unification bout is stripped or vacates the title. Eddie Hearn is keen on Joshua having a build-up fight before taking on either Wilder or competing for the IBF world heavyweight title.

Joshua's goal is to become the heavyweight champion and face top contenders like Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. However, he also wants to stay active and has expressed his desire to get back in the ring as soon as possible.
