Usyk defeated AJ in a split decision to keep his world heavyweight belts

Anthony Joshua says he was in a mental dark place after Oleksandr Usyk's defeat and ring rant.

Joshua has taken time to reflect on the fight and his speech following the contest

Joshua became furious after the fight and threw Usyk’s belts out the ring. He stormed off, but then returned to the microphone and began a two-minute speech.

He now reflects on the whole night and admits that he made mistakes.

He said, "I wish @usykaa continued successes in your pursuit for greatness." You are a class act champion.

"Yesterday, I had to mentally place myself in a dark place to compete to win the championship belts!"

"I had two fights with Usyk, and one with my emotions. Both got the better me.

Then he added: "I'll admit it, I let my self down."

"I acted out pure passion and emotion, and when it wasn't controlled, it was terrible.

"I love this sport so much, and I'll continue to improve from here on." Respect."

Joshua lost to Usyk for his third professional defeat, as he was unable to win a first loss on the undisputed champion in cruiserweight.

This was AJ’s 12th consecutive world title fight - a streak that dates back to 2016, when he won the IBF strap against Charles Martin.

He is now preparing to pursue his challenger career in order to get another chance at the belts.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, claimed that AJ would return to the ring before the year ends in the post-fight press conference.

Since December 2020, he has only fought twice - both against Usyk.

Usyk is focused on a rematch with WBC champion Fury.

In his post-fight interview, the 35-year old insists that he won't return to fight unless it is against The Gypsy King.

Fury, who previously claimed that he was retired, replied with a video, in which he stated: "I've just witnessed Joshua lose for second time to Usyk -- out of his depth.

"However England has been freed from its belts. As usual, it happened again.

"I can offer a solution and a remedy. Send in the Gypsy barbarian from England if you want to get those belts back. Get on board!

"Send me in. "I will relieve the Ukrainian dosser from his belts as I did the last Ukrainian doesser."

It's not going to be cheap. It's going to be expensive if you want the best.

"So, get your f***ing check book out and I'll relieve that Ukrainian dosser."
