ANTHONY JOSHUA is taking precautions to avoid contracting coronavirus before he takes on Oleksandr Usyk for his world title fight.
To take on the unbeaten Ukrainian, the Brit will put his WBA and WBO belts on the line.
Joshua is not taking any risks after seeing what happened to Tyson Fury, his heavyweight opponent, who contracted Covid-19. Wilder's trilogy was also postponed.
Eddie Hearn, Eddie's promoter, stated to the DAZN Boxing Show that "You have to take precautions." AJ: If you go to his camp it's super, SUPER high level.
"And the precautions that they take, very high-end – Usyk I believe exactly the same."
Fury was supposed to fight Wilder July 24, but a Covid epidemic in camp saw that move to October 4.
Bob Arum, the Gypsy King's US promoter, was furious and called it a complete f***up.
Joshua will, in the meantime, refrain from any public engagements prior to the fight and will remain isolated from the rest of the public.
The Watford brawler was warned to not'sit down' and give Usyk space in their Tottenham tussle.
Joshua will have two main problems with Usyk's footwork, and his ability to glide in-and out of range. Luke Campbell, who recently retired from the fight scene, believes that AJ can overcome these two issues by putting the slick Southpaw on the backfoot.
According to him, The Mirror said: "It is a great fight. Usyk is an incredible talent.
"His boxing technique and IQ are certainly top-notch, but is he a heavyweight?"
Joshua is a lighterweight, but I don't believe he is.
"Joshua is quick and a strong heavyweight. If he uses his strengths, I believe he will win.
"If he sits down it could be Usyk’s night, and I don't see Usyk wanting in on a big heavyweight fight like Joshua. His tactics will be mostly to make him miss and move around.
"Joshua must put it on him."
Joshua will win over Usyk, and he will do his part in preserving a historic undisputed heavyweight title fight against Fury, which was scheduled to take place this summer in Saudi Arabia.
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom boss, is positive Usyk is taking similar precautions to Joshua
