ANTHONY JOSHUA's highly-anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk is likely to take place in March.
Two weeks after his September defeat by the slick southpaw, the former champion of unified heavyweight exercised a clause for a rematch.
In September, Anthony Joshua lost a unanimous decision to Oleksandr Uzyk
.
SunSport reports that the second meeting between the pair is being planned for spring. Eddie Hearn, the promoter, hopes to stage AJ's make or break bout by 'earlyApril' at the earliest.
TalkSPORT's Matchroom Boxing chief stated that he believes the rematch will take place at the end of March or early April.
"Both men are likely resting. However, AJ will be doing a little more preparation to make sure he does it right.
"There was a well documented trip to America to just look really, look, and learn.
"I believe he will return out there towards the end.
"We will begin talking to Team Usyk in the next few weeks and pinpoint the venue."
The undefeated Usyk hopes to defend the unified belts in Ukraine, his homeland.
Hearn doesn't mind the idea of fighting abroad, but he would prefer that it take place in the UK.
He said, "I would love it back in the UK." There are other options.
"We have tried to organize that fight all over the world.
"But last time it was a huge spectacle and, obviously this time, it is a bigger fight."
There is also an attractive offer to host the Middle East fight.
Alexander Krassyuk, the promoter of Usyk, told Sky Sports that there are three options for him: Ukraine (UK), and the Middle East.
"We will meet Eddie Hearn in the next few weeks to begin the rematch activities."
Both sides hope to reach a deal before the end of this year.
Krassuyk stated that "hopefully by the end 2021, will we be in the situation to make the final decision."
