Matthew McConaughey's Abridged Version of the Article
This weekend, boxing fans are in for a treat as Anthony Joshua steps back into the ring to take on Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena. Let's take a closer look at the two heavyweight contenders and see how they match up.
Replacement Opponent
Originally, Joshua was scheduled to face fellow Brit Dillian Whyte in a highly anticipated rematch. However, Whyte's failed drugs test led to the bout being cancelled. In a bid to salvage the event, AJ's promoter Eddie Hearn quickly secured the experienced Finnish boxer Helenius as the new opponent.
Helenius' Recent Form
Helenius, also known as the Nordic Nightmare, is fresh off a victory against Mika Mielonen just last weekend. The Finnish heavyweight secured a third-round TKO in a thrilling clash on home turf. This win came after suffering a quick defeat at the hands of Deontay Wilder last October.
Mixed Bag of Results
In his professional career, Helenius has had his fair share of ups and downs. Alongside losses to Johann Duhaupas, Dillian Whyte, and Gerald Washington, he has also claimed impressive victories over Derek Chisora, Erkan Teper, and Adam Kownacki. With a record of 32 wins and four defeats, including 21 knockouts, Helenius is a force to be reckoned with.
Physical Attributes
When comparing the two fighters, Joshua holds a clear advantage in reach, measuring at 82 inches compared to Helenius' 79 inches. However, when it comes to height, they both stand at an imposing 6ft 6in. In terms of weight, Helenius actually tipped the scales a pound lighter than Joshua in their respective weigh-ins.
Journey of Anthony Joshua
Olympic gold medallist AJ is determined to regain his momentum after back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk. His most recent victory came via points decision against Franklin in April. With 25 wins in 28 bouts and a strong knockout record, Joshua is focused on showing his dominance once again.
Who Will Reign Supreme?
As these two heavyweight warriors step into the ring, the question on everyone's mind is who will come out on top. Will Joshua's experience and power be enough to overcome Helenius's resilience and skill? It's a fight you won't want to miss!
