ANTHONY JOSHUA suffered a severe injury to his right eye from tonight's heavyweight loss to Oleksandr Usyk, a classy Ukrainian fighter. He was treated by medical personnel after the contest.
The Ukrainian challenger continued to land strong southpaw shots throughout and AJ's dark eye began to emerge after the 10th round.
AJ, Watford's star wrestler, failed to use his 18lb weight advantage against the cruiserweight king. He won the contest and finished the final round strong with a series of shots.
Joshua left the ring shortly after the unanimous 117-112, 112-112 and 115-112 verdicts were announced at White Hart Lane.
Eddie Hearn, a fight promoter, said that Eddie had spoken afterward: "I don’t know if AJ sustained eye socket damage but he’s now in hospital."
Hearn stated that AJ would be required to rematch, and that the Brit believed he knew how he would beat Usyk next round.
Carl Froch, a former British super-middleweight champion, was a pundit at the fight. He said that AJ looked serious but not seriously injured.
Froch said that AJ showed "too many respect" for Usyk, whose head movement was key to Usyk winning AJ's heavyweight WBA and IBF belts.

This is the latest hurdle in AJ facing Tyson Fury, a Brit boxer who has been long wanting to fight.
The showdown was already canceled because the Gypsy King must now fight American Deontay wilder for a third consecutive time on October 9.
