ANTHONY JOSHUA will be bringing in an experienced and wise head to assist him with his high-stakes rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

After being trained by the smooth southpaw in September, the Watford warrior has replaced Rob McCracken as head coach with Angel Hernandez as assistant trainer.

Anthony Joshua's coach has been named to be Angel Fernandez

Rob McMcracken has been replaced by Fernandez, an assistant trainer.

Eddie Hearn, AJ's promoter, has said that AJ will be assisted by an "old-school" and "experienced" coach in his preparation for the rematch against Usyk

AJ, 32, traveled to America to train with Eddy Reynoso and Robert Garcia, Virgil Hunter, Ronnie Shields, in the wake of his devastating defeat. This halted a major Battle of Britain with Tyson Fury.

The former two-time champion of unified heavyweight will bring a coach to oversee the preparations for the summer bout with the pound-for-pound king.

Eddie Hearn, promoter of Boxing News, said that there will be more people joining the team and also working with them. He gets along well with Angel, they have a great relationship.

"He could have hired any trainer anywhere in the world, but he chose Angel Fernandez to continue his training - and that's because he believed Angel Fernandez was right for him.

Ex-champ says Fury vs. AJ is the biggest fight since Tyson & Holyfield’s rivalry.

"He loves what he does in Loughborough. He's happy and believes in it.

"But there will be more experienced heads coming in - whether it's as a leading cornerman, I don’t think so but [experienced] yes.

"It is well-documented that he spoke with Robert Garcia, Eddy Reynoso and Virgil Hunter," said Eddy Reynoso.

"[It will be] someone [similarly] experienced and old-school."

McCracken was Joshua's coach to Olympic gold in 2012. Joshua decided to leave McCracken because he wanted to continue learning sweet science.

Hearn said that Joshua always wants to improve and Rob has his own way.

They never fell out. Rob was more than a trainer. He was also a confidante and advisor.

"But once a fighter doubts, you need to change it up. They had completed their mission. Rob felt the same way as AJ that it was time.

"If you are the head trainer, it is not necessary for the fighter to have additional coaches.

Rob wanted the best for AJ, and AJ felt he had to make improvements and bring in people.

"Don't forget that those changes won him the Ruiz match, so it's not like it wasn't a disaster.

"It worked again at [Kubrat] Polev fight, but not in the Usyk fight. We're fine if AJ is comfortable with it and believes in it.

Rob McCracken and Anthony Joshua separated peacefully.

"He is intelligent, you can't double-bluff his intelligence. He believes in Angel, evidently.

Joshua is planning to change his game plan for the second dance with the undefeated Ukrainian. He ran rings around Joshua in their Tottenham tussle.

Hearn is optimistic that AJ will become a three-time heavyweight champion with this new approach.

Matchroom Boxing's chief stated that he had never seen anything like it before. "A small, awkward southpaw moving about.

"Now he has experienced it. I feel much more confident. He knows now that 'I've been there, I know what he does.

"[It will be his best win] – especially at this stage in his career. Usyk is the pound-for–pound number 2.
