Anthony Joshua will have to face four opponents before he can retire, including Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte

ANTHONY JOSHUA will leave a lasting legacy through the fights he wins and loses over the next five-years.

The former champion of the world's unified heavyweight division revealed that he plans to retire from the sport before he hits 40.

Sky Sports interviewed the 32-year old two years ago: "Five more years, and that's basically an Olympic Cycle."

"I have an Olympic cycle and a bit more to go, so when the next Olympics are happening is when I'll be ending my career. The next generation will also be coming through."

Joshua must defeat all remaining heavyweight challengers before he can be considered a true heavyweight champion.

AJ must trade leather with five men before the job is done.

Tyson Fury

British boxing fans long for a fight with Tyson Fury are eager to see it. It was in the works, until Deontay wilder won a legal case to fight in a trio.

Talks were held, and the only thing that was left was to agree on a date and venue for the potential PS500million event.

These plans were thwarted by Joshua's defeat against Oleksandr Uzyk. Talks could be restarted if Usyk wins in their rematch.

Deontay Wilder

It was simply too much trash talk between Joshua Wilder and Wilder that this fight didn't come to fruition.

Fury was at the end of their dispute long before Fury returned to action, but Wilder hasn’t spoken about his Olympian friend for some time.

The match-up Joshua vs Fury is fascinating stylistically and has all the ingredients for a great fight.

Despite Wilder's dethronement at the hands Fury, there is still interest in the match-up.

Andy Ruiz Jr

Joshua has yet to settle his score with Andy Ruiz Jr, the man who handed him his first professional loss.

It was clear that he was the superior man in their December 2019 rematch in Saudi Arabia.

He can't say that he's better then Mexico's first heavyweight champion, with only one win each.

Let's not forget about Ruiz Jr., who clearly had been living the high life following his shocking upset win - came to his second showdown against AJ.

Joshua must run the Saudi revenge mission despite its dominant nature.

Dillian Whyte

Joshua must still settle the matter with Dillian Whyte, a fellow Brit, while we're on the subject of trilogy fights.

Their amateur meeting in 2009 is enough to make the series between Joshua & Whyte level.

You could argue that there is no reason for a third fight, as Joshua brutally defeated The Bodysnatcher during their 2015 showdown.

However, considering the positive changes Whyte has made since his setback, except for the loss to Alexander Povetkin, Tyson Fury and Tyson Fury losses, AJ still offers a possibility of AJ fighting again.

Joshua would be happy to end the squabbling with his domestic rival.
