David Price Backs Joshua
Former sparring partner David Price has voiced his support for Anthony Joshua ahead of his upcoming fight against Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on March 8. Price, who once dropped Joshua in sparring, believes Joshua will dominate in the ring.
Ngannou's Boxing Debut
Ngannou, a former UFC champion who made his boxing debut in October against Tyson Fury, aims to challenge Joshua in what promises to be a blockbuster match. Despite a controversial split-decision loss to Fury, Ngannou's performance earned him another high-profile bout against AJ.
Price's Prediction
Price shared his prediction with iFL TV, stating, "I think Joshua will walk through him really in a boxing match. I think it will magnify what happened with Fury and get people talking more again." The 40-year-old retired in 2021 after a defeat to Derek Chisora.
Joshua's Response
Reflecting on the sparring incident where Price dropped him, Joshua acknowledged the experience as a learning opportunity. He mentioned in a 2016 interview with Sky Sports, "Yes, he dropped me in sparring and I continued training and that’s why I am here now. In a sense, you have to look at these things as a blessing in disguise because in boxing, a lot of people get dropped, get hurt and then go on and do great things."
