Anthony Joshua's new opponent will be decided today as Deontay Wilder team-mate front-runner to land fight

AJ Set to Face New Opponent

Anthony Joshua is set to learn the identity of his new short-notice opponent later today. His planned rematch with Dillian Whyte was cancelled after Whyte returned his third failed drugs test. Promoter Eddie Hearn has been working tirelessly to secure a replacement for Whyte and it is expected that Joshua's new opponent will be finalized by the end of the day.

American Gerald Washington the Frontrunner

American Gerald Washington is currently leading the race to land the fight against Joshua. Washington, who was previously scheduled to fight Derek Chisora on the undercard, is a member of Deontay Wilder's team and trains with Wilder's head coach, Malik Scott. The 41-year-old's height and ranginess make him an ideal opponent for Joshua as he prepares for his grudge match with Wilder.

Other Fighters Interested

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has expressed interest in a trilogy fight with Joshua. Even Derek Chisora himself has campaigned to fight his long-time friend. However, Washington remains the frontrunner to win the opportunity to face Joshua.

Whyte Denies Doping Allegations

Dillian Whyte, whose failed drugs test led to the cancellation of the fight with Joshua, has denied intentionally doping. He has vowed to clear his name and insists he is completely innocent. Whyte expressed shock and devastation at the news and requested time to go through the process of proving his innocence.
