ANTHONY JOSHUA opened up about his changes in tactics after losing to Andy Ruiz Jr. - explaining that he wanted to become a'slicker boxer.
In June 2019, the British star was defeated for the first time. He suffered four knockdowns before being eliminated in round seven.
Andy Ruiz Jr beat Anthony Joshua in June 2019.
Joshua, 32, made amends six months later when he won 12 rounds by boxing.
After Ruiz 32 made a claim that AJ was not the same after he stopped Ruiz, 32 AJ took to Twitter to defend Ruiz.
Joshua was also accused by being more cautious than usual and failing to attack fighters as you used to.
AJ responded, "I wanted to become a slicker fighter." Boxing 1.0.1 - hit & don't get hit.
"I was told that if I really love fighting and want to continue for 4 years, it is important not to get hit too often. Boxing shouldn't be afraid of losing or getting beaten.
"It forced me to work on my weaknesses. It's hard to explain, but take what you can from it.

It didn't work as Usyk, 35 years old, defeated the Londoner to win the unified heavyweight title on points.
Joshua promoted Angel Fernandez, who was previously an assistant trainer, to the position of head coach. This seems to have replaced Rob McCracken.
Behind The Gloves, he said: "I'm working right now with Angel Fernandez.
"He has been with me for the past three years." He was at my last three world championship fights.
Joshua was recently captured in Fernandez’s gym sparring with Luke Campbell, a former lightweight.
Campbell is giving away approximately EIGHT stone, but the London Olympic gold medalists in 2012 took turns drilling straight body shots.
