LIGHTWEIGHT rivals Teofimo Martinez and Devin Haney clashed, and then they agreed to a huge lightweight unification next season.
Both were in Fresno to witness the shock of Sandor Martin, a Spanish outsider, on Mikey Garcia, former four-division champion.
The night's headlines were shared by Lopez and Haney, a unbeaten pair, who were both captured in one set.
Both their dads were involved in training their sons and were present at the heated back-and forth.
Lopez defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko (33), last October to win WBA, IBF, and WBO lightweight titles, as well as the WBC "Franchise" belt.
Haney, who is currently WBC champion and argues Lopez can't be disputed, is Haney.
Lopez will face George Kambosos Jr., the mandatory challenger on November 27, after months of delays due to the fight moving from Triller towards DAZN.
Haney will be returning in December, and Jojo Diaz, who has no opponent since Ryan Garcia was injured, has been offered.
The fight would take place in December, before the grudge match between Lopez and Haney can begin.
They agreed that if they win their next fights, they would face each other next year with all of the lightweight titles at stake.
Lopez withdrew his August fight against Kambosos following a positive test for coronavirus. He had vowed that he would push Haney out the spotlight.
SunSport was informed by him that he did not believe the man belonged in the sport. He is a fraud and a fake. I don't think anyone like that is worthy of respect.
"And the whole thing he did is just trying to get him out. He's done what it took, but this guy has been fed his entire life with a silver spoon.
"Only those who know him, understand him, and know what I mean can say that. I want him out.
"But these guys fear, they really are running from and I wish people could see that part. But they won't.
"There are so many fakes out there, so they create it and it's all fake."
