BARRY HEARN believes Deontay Wester has 'looked like a beaten man' after his second defeat to Tyson Fury in Las Vegas.
Fury ended Wilder's rivalry in emphatic fashion, knocking Wilder out in the 11th round. He will retain his WBC title and Ring magazine title.
Hearn believes Wilder may not fight again
Wilder put in a great performance and scored two knockdowns round four. However, he was unable finish the Gypsy King.
Hearn, the father of Mathroom Sport's main guy Eddie, believes that Wilder could be the last person to see him in the ring.
Boxing Social asked him: "Some fights, some fight." This could be the last time Deontay Wilder is out there.
"He looked like a battered man mentally and physically that night and then the way he spoke afterwards.
Tyson did a complete demolition job.
"I believe most people predicted Tyson Fury's win, but we didn't see the drama that was coming. It was an excellent fight for heavyweight boxing.
"A great fight for Tyson Fury, who seems so confident that he could walk through any wall at the moment."
Malik Scott, Wilder's trainer, said that the 35-year old 'doesn’t have to fight again' after securing his family’s financial future.
Wilder insists that he isn't planning to retire.
Scott stated that Deontay made his family financially secure so they don't have to struggle to make a living.
"But retirement is not in his plans at any time and it's not something that we have discussed."
Wilder plans to return in May 2022, once he is fully recovered from emergency surgery on his hand.
The date for the return would be considered one month after Wilder's Nevada State Athletic Commission expires.
Wilder was prohibited from competing by the NSAC until April 8.
Fury could face Dillian Whyte, the WBC mandatory title challenger.
First, however, the Brit must get past Otto Wallin's October 30th deadline.
If Whyte wins, the Brits could face each other in December in what Eddie calls a'massive' event.
Eddie, who manages Whyte, told iFL TV that "if Dillian gets the job done in the O2, then there will be a huge fight between two Brits for WBC and Ring magazine titles."
"I don’t see why Tyson would not want to fight Dillian Howte. It's a big payday and a massive event.
