From Amateur Standout to Professional

Ashton Sylve, a rising star in the boxing world, recently opened up about his decision to turn down the opportunity to sign with Floyd Mayweather in favor of joining Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions. Despite being a regular at Mayweather's Las Vegas boxing club and catching the eye of the legendary fighter, Sylve chose a different path.

A Hard Choice

Sylve, now 20 years old, reflected on the difficult decision, saying, "It was honestly real hard. I was at a point where I was not going to listen to my dad, it was kind of taking too long and I was like five or six fights in. I was ready to be on the big stage and I thought Floyd or whoever else would have put me on that spotlight."

Meeting Jake Paul

However, fate had other plans for Sylve. Jake Paul and his business partner Nakisa Bidarian made an offer that Sylve couldn't refuse. Sylve explained, "But everything happens for a reason and that’s when Jake came around I think two fights later and Nakisa came to one of my fights. I had an amazing knockout and we kind of went from there. If I had gone with someone else, I don’t think I’d be in this position."

A Promising Future

Since signing with Most Valuable Promotions in April 2022, Sylve has seen his career flourish. He is set to fight Estivan Falcao for the WBC junior world title, a match that could launch him up the rankings and put him in contention for a future shot at the belt. Sylve credits his team and the development of his career for his current success.
