Ginny Fuchs Clinches Victory

American boxer Ginny Fuchs, 36, secured the WBC interim super-flyweight title in a hard-fought battle against fellow American Adelaida Ruiz, 35, on Saturday night. Fuchs emerged victorious with a split decision, despite facing a gruesome injury.

Discovering the Injury

Unbeknownst to Fuchs, she had broken her thumb within the first two minutes of the 10-round fight. The dedicated fighter soldiered on, only realizing the extent of her injury after removing her glove post-match.

Courageous Display

Speaking to DAZN, Fuchs revealed, "I felt it the first round, I think it was the hook. I just thought I jammed it really bad, it kept hurting through the fight but I just tried to ignore it. But then when I took my glove off I was like 'Oh s***, I broke it.'"

Warrior Mentality

Despite the excruciating injury, Fuchs showed true grit and determination, fighting through the pain for all 10 rounds. Her boxing manager, George Ruiz, praised her resilience, stating, "Absolute warrior. And now world champion."
