Boxer knocks out opponent with a 'dirty but legal’ sucker punch, leaving boxers and fans divided over whether the move is fair.

BOXER was brutally knocked unconscious with a sucker punch, after touching his gloves. Fans were split over whether or not the move was fair.

Ruben Torres took on Cristian Baez at the Corona, California main event on Saturday night.

They fought until the seventh round, when Baez attempted to touch his gloves.

Baez immediately touched his opponent's hand and a lightning fast left hook followed.

Baez was immediately knocked out, and he fell on his back while the referee called the contest.

Fans were divided over whether or not the knockout was fair.

One person said it on Twitter: "Dirty but protect yourself at any time."

Another tweet: "It's dirt for sure, but technically legal so that's that."

One viewer suggested that boxers should view fights as if it were "at war".

It was answered, however, with the following: "You are not at war, but you are in a sporting competition."

Others say it reminds of Floyd Mayweather's fight against Victor Ortiz in 2011.

Ortiz slapped Mayweather in his face with an apparent intentional headbutt. He also opened a cut inside and out of Mayweather's mouth.

Joe Cortez, the referee, immediately called for a timeout. Ortiz was then penalized with a point.

Ortiz admitted his wrongdoing and the pair hugged before Mayweather caught him with a fight-ending left hook then right hook.

One boxing fan stated that Mayweather did not do enough and that the entire boxing world wanted him.

"Wow, how different things are here.. commentary doesn't call this guy all kinds.
