Boxing's most iconic cutman, Jacob "Stitch" Duran, is ready to join Tyson Fury's team to protect the horror cut that forced him out of fighting Oleksandr Usyk. Duran, known as the best in the business, also revealed a tiny tactic that will give Fury the edge in training for the rescheduled bout.
The Delayed Clash
Tyson Fury was set to face Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17 in the first four-belt heavyweight unification bout. However, a gash sustained in sparring just two weeks before the fight postponed the match until May 18.
The Healing Process
Duran estimates that it will take a little over three months for the cut to fully heal. In the meantime, he advised Fury to invest in a new head guard for sparring. Duran recommends using a larger version with a bar across the face to guard the nose, as the shot that caused the injury came upwards.
Experience and Expertise
This is not the first time Duran has worked with Fury. The legendary cutman previously helped Fury with a catastrophic cut he suffered in his 2019 fight against Otto Wallin. Despite the severity of the injury, Fury battled on and won a points decision, needing 47 stitches afterward. Duran's experience and expertise were crucial in Fury's recovery.

Ready to Save the Day Again
Duran is now ready to re-join Fury's camp to once again save the WBC champion's skin. While he acknowledges the business aspect of the opportunity, Duran's main focus is on confidence and technique. If the opportunity arises, he is more than willing to help Fury in his upcoming fight against Usyk.
