The Boxing World Mourns the Loss
The boxing community is in mourning following the passing of Manfred Wolke at the age of 81. The former German welterweight and legendary trainer had been battling an incurable form of dementia for several years.
A Tragic Loss
Manfred Wolke, a well-respected figure in the boxing world, tragically lost his battle with the disease, as reported by Die Stimme Berlins. He spent his final days in a care facility in Frankfurt, where his wife Brigitte would regularly visit him. As his condition worsened, the number of visitors was restricted, with only his protege Henry Maske being allowed to visit on his 80th birthday.
Tributes Pour In
Upon learning of Wolke's passing, fellow coach Ulli Wegner paid tribute to his colleague, highlighting Wolke's significant contribution to German professional boxing. Wegner praised Wolke for bringing German boxing back to the top, emphasizing his lasting impact on the sport.
