The WBC belt was once held by the American, which is now occupied Mexican pound-for pound king.
The Dog is the younger brother of Andre, the former world champion. He has 33 wins, two defeats, and two draws over a 16-year career.
Hernandez, a California native, has won 15 matches and lost four more in his career. He is also 10 years younger than his Vegas opponent.
Rey Vargas vs Leonardo Baez
Rey Vargas, a former WBC super-bantamweight champion world champ, returns to the ring after an injury layoff and meets Leonardo Baez for another 10-rounder.
The WBC strap was won by Brit Gavin McDonnell in 2017.
Baez is four years older than Vargas and has defeated his three previous opponents to earn a 21-4 record.
