CANELO ALVAREZ will fight Gennady Gorlovkin in a three-fight series following his defeat at light-heavyweight.
Dmitry Bivol, boxing's former pound for pound king, lost unanimously to Dmitry Bivol's bid to win the WBA 175lb belt earlier in this month.

Canelo was set on a rematch against the Russian immediately after his second pro loss, but he has now turned his attention towards settling the scores with Golovkin.
ESPN Deportes reported that he said: "Surely yes [about fighting Golovkin] next."
"We had that contract, that agreement. So we must continue what we started. I believe those are the two greatest fights in boxing: the fight with Golovkin, and the rematch against Bivol.
"Unfortunately, we lost, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try again."

In September, the third installment of Canelo Vs GGG was originally scheduled. This is the timeline that Mexico's pride hopes to keep.
He stated, "What is certain is we will return in September."
"And in coming days... today tomorrow, and the day after, I will announce the fight. We just need to wait a bit."

The first meeting between the pair ended in a controversial draw. Many boxing fans believed that Golovkin was robbed by the judges.
Canelo won their rematch 12 month later by majority decision, although many felt the epic rematch should have been a draw.
Although the prospect of Canelo and Golovkin fighting again has not been well received, Eddie Hearn insists that the time is right for them to end their rivalry.
He stated that he had spoken to Canelo yesterday. We will be talking Monday to discuss the next steps.
"We know that the GGG fight exists for the undisputed; it is the trilogy.

"It's probably our only chance. He's determined to fight Dmitry Bivol, so we have to make this fight.
"I believe he will only fight GGG if Dmitry Bivol is fought after that. We'll speak to Canelo Monday and decide next week.
