BOXING star Canelo Alvarez is more likely to fight Jermall Charlo, the WBC middleweight champion than he is to challenge him for the title of cruiserweight.
Last November, the pound-for-pound king shocked boxing fans around the globe when he announced that he would challenge Ilunga Makabu to the WBC cruiserweight title.

Canelo's surprise bid to become five-weight world champion has however gone cold.
Mike Coppinger, boxing journalist, says that a long-awaited fight with Charlo at Cinco De Mayo weekend seems'more probable' for the Mexican.
Coppinger stated that he believes he will fight JermallCharlo on Cinco De Mayo during an appearance on ESPN.
"There are discussions right now about that fight."
Canelo made history by defeating Caleb Plant in November to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion.
Stephen Espinoza, Showtime Sports president, recently stated that the 31-year old is open to facing Charlo.

He said to ES News that the "two most interesting fights for Canelo next" were Jermall Charlo or David Benavidez, or Jermall Charlo.
"We have mentioned them to Team Canelo and there is some interest.
"We've seen this past year that Canelo has been busy.
"I would anticipate that he will roll into his next fight fairly quickly."
Charlo, the undefeated twin brother to light-middleweight champion Jermell has called out Canelo a few times over the years.
He did it again after seeing Caleb Plant stop him in round 11 of the undisputed showdown.
Fight Hype reported that he would go to Mexico to fight Canelo at his home.
"Ronnie (Shields), Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie, Ronnie. Will we not fight Canelo at the house of his?
"We will travel to Mexico. We love Mexico. We are from Texas, bro.
Last month, he shared with his 469,000 Instagram followers that he wished he could gift him the Canelo Alvarez fight for Christmas. But sadly, unable to.
