Canelo Alvarez to fight Russian Dmitry Bivol in a blockbuster fight, with Ukraine's invasion having 'no bearing on' plans

EDDIE HEARN insists that Russia's invasion in Ukraine will not have any impact on Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol's fight.

Canelo will challenge the Russian for the WBA light-heavyweight title in Las Vegas on May 7.

The announcement was made amid Russia's invasion in Ukraine. It is not clear what the future impact will be.

It remains to be questioned whether Oleksandr Usyk will rematch Anthony Joshua.

Eddie Hearn stated on iFL TV that "people keep saying would this affect Canelo gegen Bivol?" What would this mean for Oleksandr Usyk

"I cannot tell you what Oleksandr Uzyk is thinking in his head. For me, however, the answer to that question is no.

"I'd guess Oleksandr Usyk would start camp in four weeks.

"I suppose, like Dmitry Bivol, who will begin camp in Los Angeles this Saturday or Monday - if it's what Usyk requires, he'll do the same."

Hearn said, "It's sensitive topic and I can't give you what certain individuals do, whose country's at war."

"But it doesn't have any bearing on Anthony Joshua against Oleksandr Usyk."

Ukraine's unified heavyweight champion has taken up arms against Vladimir Putin's Russia.

Usyk joined the Kyiv Territorial Defence, and carried a machine gun across his massive shoulder.
