According to reports, CANELO ALVAREZ and Caleb Plant could face each other in NOVEMBER. The pair are close to an agreement on a new deal.
Despite previous talks having ended at the beginning August, negotiations are continuing.
Although they were close to agreeing to a September 18th date, Canelo, 31, pulled out of negotiations because he wanted to be sure he would receive PS28million for his bout regardless of Plant's withdrawal.
ESPN reports that the two are looking at a fight at the end the year.
This is an amazing turnaround considering that the clash was "100% dead" at July's end, and Plant was reportedly furious at this outcome.
Canelo, who is 29 years old, is looking to defeat Plant to win the IBF super-middleweight title. This will unify the middleweight division.
If he succeeds, the Mexican super-middleweight champion will be declared. Dmitry Bivol could also be considered as a potential opponent.
Canelo tried to fight WBA light-heavyweight champion Bivol on September 18, but was unable to do so due to insufficient time to train and prepare.
Joe Smith Jr and Artur Beterbiev are potential rivals at 175lbs, but first Canelo might have to defeat the 21-0 Plant.
Eddie Hearn believes that Canelo will have Bivol once he defeats Plant.

The Matchroom promoter said: “They (Canelo and his team) do want to fight Caleb Plant. That is what they want at the end of the day.
“Dmitry Bivol is there, he accepted the fight, he’s ready to fight, but the ultimate goal for Canelo is to be undisputed at 168 lbs. So they’ll [Canelo] reignite that.
“He [Canelo] likes to take challenges, and he loves to take great fights. Dmitry Bivol and all these guys at 175 are all tough.”
